Table of Contents
First-Time Users
Hatena Haiku is a mini-blogging service that lets you make short entries regarding specific keywords and easily make additions.
Select a keyword and have a conversation with other users on a bulletin board, or you can easily jot down your thoughts and make it your mini blog. Enjoy using it in any way you like.

In addition to words, you can submit a drawing, a picture, or even a video. Select a keyword as your topic to respond to others, jot down memos, or post your thoughts.
* Please refer to the developer's blog for the latest information.
Make an entry
To make an entry on Hatena Haiku, you must first select a keyword as your topic. After logging into your Hatena account, you will see at the top of your page two entry spaces. Enter a keyword in the smaller space, and write the desired text in the wider space. Then click on the "Haiku!" button to submit your entry.
Your keyword can be anything you like. It can be something that has already been used, or you may be the first to use it. Just select a keyword that describes your entry.
If you submit an entry without a keyword, it will be submitted to your own Username (id:username) and will not be displayed with the other new entries. Your entry will only be posted on your friend's Following Page, so this is a suitable method of communicating subjects you do not wish everyone to see.
On your Keyword Page, no keyword will be displayed, and you can write just the text in response to the entry.
What you can select as a keyword
In addition to words, you can select User IDs or websites as keywords.
UserIDs (id:~)
To select a User ID as your topic, enter the ID in the following format, "id:hatenahaiku". If you use a User ID as your keyword, your entry will also appear in that person's Keyword Page in the "Profile Page" linked from their User Page. This is a great way to introduce someone to your friends, or to send a direct message to someone.
Websites (http://~)
To select a website as your topic, enter the URL for that page in the keyword space in the following format, "http://h.hatena.com/". The title of that page will be set as the keyword and you can make an entry regarding the website.
Products (asin:~)
To select a product as your topic, enter the ASIN code of that product in the keyword space. ASIN is the product code used on amazon.com and can be found on the products being sold on that site.
When entering an ASIN code as your keyword, enter the ASIN code number following "asin:" in the following format, "asin:4798110523".
Text entries
In addition to writing entries using letters and numbers, you can also paste images and videos, or include links to User IDs or keywords.
Images
To display an image in your entry, write its URL, which must end in either gif, jpg, or png, in the text space. The image will automatically be displayed.
YouTube videos
Enter the URL of a video on YouTube in the following format and a video player will be automatically displayed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaYs1Ni4ts0
Usernames
By writing a User ID after the characters "id:" in your entry, you can add a link to that person's User Page in your entry. A notification will be sent to that person's Hatena Message reporting the use of their User ID. Including a User ID is a good way to let that person know you have submitted an entry that you want them to see.
Keywords
By placing double brackets around a keyword within your entry like this, [[Hatena Haiku]], you can include a link to its keyword page.
Or draw a picture instead!
In addition to writing words in your entry, you can submit your own drawings. Click on the paintbrush icon next to the "Haiku!" button. A drawing entry form will appear where you can create anything you like.
Select the width of the brush and color using the buttons displayed above the text space. You can also erase part of your drawing using the erase button.
When you are done drawing, click on the "Haiku!" button. Now your drawing will be displayed as an entry for that keyword. When you submit a drawing in this way, it will automatically be saved in your Hatena Fotolife.
