Facebook is new to me. Comparison between Hatena and Facebook may found interesting anthorpological learning. Since I live in between the two cultures, my assumption is that American has stronger independent mind than Japanese, not enjoy Hatena village friendly mentality. On the other hand, Japanese want to be with others to get comfort from each other. What do you think?
